Are they too restrictive- do you feel the motion of your swing?- And what was wrong with motion of yesterday's players ? Maybe your feet are the key to your weight shift and your timing sequence! Modern era swing techniques or swing styles of yesterday. Listen to those who have done it and OWN their swings. Then decide what is best for you.. the feet are a good place to start.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://pureballstriker.blogspot.com/2008/10/feet-dont-fail-me-now-own-your-swing.html' title='Feet, don't fail me now! Notably, Ben Hogan, Sam Sneed,Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and and fast approaching, Tiger Woods. Now we might argue about a few others, but the concept of having a repeating swing, that produced excellent golf over the long hall might be the best criteria.

Owning their swings, they could minimize bad play periods, repeated their swing patterns and were able to maintain consistent reliable ball striking. These players could work the ball and produced whatever shot needed for the circumstance.

In the coming weeks we will take a look at issues, fundamentals and ways to own your swing. Why this may be a critical part to improving your game. And for the skeptics, is it even possible to own your own swing.. Poor posture, improper ball position, bad aiming and incorrect grip; all of those items affect your swing. But mostly, these seeming little things affect your ability to direct the club face, shaft and club head in a manner that sends the ball where you want it to go.

If you are just trying to hit the range, none of the above matters. They are working on impact positions, aim and controlling the force applied to the ball. Ben Hogan was famous for his ball striking and was a master at controlling the forces of golf, down out and forward in his swing.

It may sound confusing, but when you control the club shaft, head and face you can start to control the ball. Just hitting balls is sometimes fun, but often produces inconsistent results and frustration. A worthy effort and a way to improve your ball striking control would be to understand and apply the basic forces of physics and golf dynamics. Besides, it's more fun to know where the ball is going!

The pure ball striker give you a sense of how to control the club shaft, club face and club head, how to move you hands and how to direct a proper force into impact. Give it a try! Stop hitting balls and start controlling your impact.

Putting and the Pure Ball Striker

<img style="float:right; you can get into a reasonable position at the top, how do you get down. Oh, and where are you trying to go? At the ball, down the line, to the inside of the ball. Do you drive your hands, legs, knees or all of the above? None of the above?

I know you are trying to hit the ball. Trying may be the operative word. Is there something missing. Can you just let it happen and unwind? Do you pull down, shift your hips, let it rip?
